 
Shari’s Berries was founded in 1989 when Shari
Fitzpatrick decided to pursue her dream of creating the
world’s greatest chocolate dipped strawberries. The concept
for Shari’s Berries came about while Shari was working as a
mortgage broker. As a broker, she began giving realtors
baskets of chocolate dipped strawberries to get their
attention and gain their business.
The gifts were so popular, Shari decided to open
her own business and began assembling baskets laden with
chocolate dipped strawberries from a one-bedroom condo in
Sacramento, California. Shari leased kitchen space to create
her products before opening her first storefront in 1991. In
response to customer demand, she opened her second store in
1994, a third in 1998 and continues to grow. Shari attributes
our success to a quality product, customer service and
promotional activities. Shari’s hard work and diligence has
paid off.
Patented Strawberry Roses and Other Creations
As with most of our products, Shari received
requests from many clients for an arrangement other than gift
baskets. “Since my goal was to replace a florist, I decided
that we should make strawberry roses that have become our
signature gift,” explains Shari. Our “roses” are chocolate
dipped strawberries that are set on a hand-made stem with silk
rose leaves and arranged with baby’s breath and fern to create
an elegant and unique product. In fact, our roses are so
unique we were granted U.S. Patent No. 5229149, which keeps
this product a one-of-a-kind gift.
Since launching Shari’s Berries in 1989, our
product line has grown from a simple gift basket to over 75
products. Selections include baskets of chocolate dipped
strawberries enhanced with bottles of chocolate dipped
champagne, chocolate dipped goblets, and silver collectibles
that provide a keepsake after the strawberries are enjoyed.
There are also novelty gifts, such as a black top hat filled
with “tuxedo” style chocolate dipped strawberries and even a
strawberry wedding cake, which consists of 100 berries
arranged in three tiers.
The Future is Here
Always looking for better ways to serve our
customers, we have recently made the decision to expand
nationally. To realize this goal, we have developed a special
shipping method designed to make it possible to send our
patented rose bouquets and other product selections to any
address in the U.S. Our web site was created to make it as
easy to send berries as it is to send flowers.
As part of our expansion plans we opened a third
store in Sacramento in November 1998, and a store in Los
Angeles, which are the prototype for future outlets. Plans are
being made to open retail outlets in major cities over the
next few years. We look forward to opening a store near you
