This picture was taken in Ulu Bruas, Perak, in the late 1990s. Crab spiders often wait in
ambush on showy flowers as they attract insects looking for nectar or pollen. However,
this one was looking the other way and appeared to be ignoring the ants crawling about on the
Straits Rhododendron, Melastoma malabathricum (Melastomaceae).
