UP CLOSE with NATURE
Is Jesus Christ the answer to your questions?
The larvae were fed by adult wasps upon their return at the nest from foraging excursions. Often other adult wasps would rush up to the nursing wasps and “kissed” them. They seemed to me to be taking food by force directly from the mouths of the nursing wasps. In this photo, the two wasps on the right were nursing the larvae for some time and were later “kissed” by the other two on the left. I wonder if this is trophallaxis or just thievery.
