This picture was taken at Ulu Bruas, Perak, in the mid-1990s. A second flash unit was used to “bring out” the delicate orb-web. This was a young spider which had built its web in low vegetation. The Curved Spiny Spider is quite a common species found in primary or secondary forests, or at the forest fringe.
