Both the Malay Red Harlequin (Paralaxita damajanti damajanti) and the Red Harlequin
(Paralaxita telesia lyclene), in my eyes, are so beautiful that they truly deserve
to be called the living jewels of the jungle. The Red Harlequin is also unique among Malaysian
butterflies in having an upper surface of a bright carmine which is unmarked. I have not been
able to photograph this as I have never found the butterfly settled with its wings open.
