Vanda hookeriana... this orchid is also called Kinta Weed because it once grew
profusely in the Kinta Valley, an important tin-mining district in Perak until the industry
collapsed in the 1970s. At one time this species became
so rare due to collection it raised fears that it might be extinct. However, new areas where
it grows came to light, and the species was also quite recently found in Sabah.
