The Plain Tiger is a common but pretty butterfly that may sometimes
wander into a garden to feed on flower nectar. This one was photographed feeding
at Lantana flowers in a village in Beruas, Perak. The Plain
Tiger (Danaus chrysippus) is also known as the
African Monarch, and is a “cousin” of the Monarch (D. plexippus) of North
America renowned for the long migratory flights between Mexico and Canada.
