The Perlis Pansy is named after the state of Perlis (in northern Peninsular Malaysia) where it is presumably abundant. Perlis borders on and lies to the north of Kedah, another state where this species is found. I have also seen the Perlis Pansy, Junonia (Precis) lemonias, on Penang island.
